Gynura in Cyprus. The Story of One Return
People have long been looking for the elixir of youth and health. Living water, juvenile apples, magical herbs… Are you not inclined to believe in fairy tales? Modern science has an answer, confirmed by facts and evidence, which can convince any skeptic. Today we will tell you about Gynura Procumbens-an amazing plant, which, in strength and range of its action, is one of the most interesting medicinal plants of our time.
HISTORY WITH CONTINUATION
For centuries, the plant has been used by many generations as food and, at the same time, as a remedy for diseases. Grateful residents of different countries gave it names that speak for themselves: “Spinach of longevity”, “Leaves of God”, “A cure for a hundred diseases”. In Japan, Gynura is called the “spinach of Okinawa”. Curiously, the average life expectancy of the inhabitants of the island of Okinawa is 85 years! But, people tend to doubt — I want not only beautiful legends, but also scientific facts. We turned to the founder of the Cyprus company Via Vita Estate, Boris Kurtsev, who was the first in Cyprus and Europe to grow and explore Gynura, and also apply it in various fields.
Boris, how did you hear about Gynura?
Almost 5 years ago, one of my friends brought me a small bush and said: “This leaf reduces the blood sugar level”. I tried it. It seemed delicious to me. We began to grow it, give it to friends and, to our surprise, we saw that it works remarkably well. And, so from a single bush, grew a pretty decent plantation!
And where is the native land of this plant?
I studied the sources and ancient tracts and it turned out that the plant comes from our region. The first mention of Gynura was made by one of the founders of botany, an ancient Roman military doctor, a Greek by birth, Dioscorides Pedanius (40-90 AD). In his famous treatise “De Materia Medica”, compiled during campaigns with the troops of Titus and Vespasian, he describes the three relatives of Gynura, and all the references indicate its origin is from North Africa. Later, with the navigators, the plant migrated to Southeast Asia, where it was appreciated by eastern healers.
It turns out that, after two millennia, Gynura returns to her historical homeland, where practically nothing is known about the plant itself?
Not certainly in that way. In many countries of the world, Gynura is part of the balanced diet and healthy lifestyle system and is included in many national medicinal plant reference books. In the last 15 years, the plant has attracted the attention of the international scientific community. Most of the work was done in universities and laboratories in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, South Korea and Japan. The results of the studies confirm the healing effect of Gynura in diabetes, kidney disease, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, oncological issues and many other diseases.
What about our domestic scientists? Do they still remain aloof?
For several years, a group of enthusiasts has been working with us. They are doctors from the Perm Medical University (Department of Pharmacy and Physiology), employees of the 1st Moscow Medical University (Department of Dermatology and Plastic Surgery) and Cypriot doctors, including dentists, endocrinologists, dermatologists and general practitioners. This group includes Paraskevas Paraskeva, Costas Gregorio and many others. All of them carry out research and get results for themselves that are often unexpected.
The head of the scientific programme, academician Bogdan Vladimirovich Gorodiski, a scientist of world renown and, in the past, the chief immunologist of the Irkutsk region has repeatedly visited Cyprus and brought in diagnostic equipment. The results have exceeded our expectations! There’s such a wide range!
YOU NEVER DREAMED!
Gynura continues to amaze! According to Boris, the positive effects obtained in the treatment of diabetes and hypertension are already “yesterday and even the day before yesterday”. There are serious effects on the neuroendocrine and immune systems, powerful regeneration and detoxification. Gynura and its extracts (alcohol, water and oil) are actively used in dermatology and dentistry, cosmetology and plastic surgery.
As part of Gynura, there is an enzyme, asparaginase, which removes acrylamide from the body. It is the strongest toxincarcinogen, which, unfortunately, most of us consume every day with fried foods or chips, rusks and the whole spectrum of fast food.
In general, it can be said that Gynura is an effective remedy for cancer prevention in all the toxic and stressful loads of a person in daily life. Slowly, step by step, scientists receive confirmation of the results of their studies. The last two years, Boris has been devoted to the development of new products. There are presently more than ten, with five of them have already receiving patents. Today, Gynura can be tried in kind — for example, in salads or as a pasta (such dishes have recently been offered at restaurants Zen and Chesters in Limassol). Teas and extracts can be purchased at Sigma and Froutopia stores, ordered at the pharmacy, retrieved from a clinic (from any doctor) or through the distributors at Marathon. Phone at: 7000 77 61. On the website, gynuraonline.com, you can get acquainted with the official research results, as well as read dozens of reviews from people for whom this plant has become not just magical, but salutary; helping to reduce the doses of drugs taken (including insulin), normalise blood pressure, cope with obesity and even save your favourite pets.
Gynura — plant-traveller, giving hope…
Instead of an epilogue, the interview is over. The recorder is turned off and put aside.
“Well, shall we have a cup of tea?” — It is proposed. Boris is conjuring over an elegant teapot, in which sachets of Gynura are floated.
Spilling a golden drink (which, by the way, is good both hot and cold), he notes:
“Do not rush to throw out the tea bag! This is also an excellent ready-made skin mask. Gynura oils, unlike other oils, dissolve in water and have unique properties. Your skin will become smooth and healthy and will begin to glow from the inside, for it is not without reason that Gynura treats 58(!) skin diseases” .
I thought that in the near future, Cyprus, known to the world as an island of saints, the birthplace of Aphrodite and a year-round resort, could become famous thanks to an amazing plant, Gynura, which grows under the generous Cypriot sun, without demanding anything in return!
The conversation was conducted by Polina Malysheva.
In Cyprus, the products from Gynura can be purchased at the following locations:
