Skylink Services Ltd. — the only company in Cyprus specialising in VIP ground handling services for executive aircraft at Larnaca and Paphos International Airports. Currently representing over 400 companies that own or operate executive aircraft worldwide, the company caters to aircraft, ranging from very light jets to larger aircraft, such as the Boeing 747 and Airbus 340, and is the preferred choice for most VIPs, celebrities and business persons travelling to, from or through Cyprus.

We spoke about the focus of the company and the future of executive aircraft with the Managing Director of Skylink, Mr. George Mavros:

We were established in 1993, but began operations in 1998, filling the gap in the Executive Aircraft ground handling market at both International Airports of Cyprus, Larnaca and Paphos. From the beginning, we were a small supervising agency for government and military aircraft. During those years, there were only around 400 flights a year. Over the last decade, the company has grown in size and reputation and now we have about 3600 flights a year.

What are the services you provide for your clients?

We provide them with all of the services for a complete stop on their way through Cyprus, from security repositioning of the aircraft to full concierge service, including limousine service, hotel reservations, catering, etc. Skylink maintains a fleet of 13 executive vehicles. These include Mercedes 7-seater Viano minivans for ramp and crew transport, as well as executive cars such as the Mercedes S-class and BMW 7-series.

The facilities we offer at the Skylink Executive Terminal in Larnaca, throughout the year and on a 24hr basis, include a spacious lounge. The lounge can accommodate up to 60 passengers at any given time and has a luxurious and relaxing environment, complete with state-of-the-art media and visual equipment and Wi-Fi internet access. There is also a selection of complimentary hot and cold beverages. A separate crew rest area and briefing facility is also offered, as well as a private area available for meetings. Due to the services that we provide and the customers that we deal with, discretion and privacy are very important. We are committed to providing this discretion to all of our clients. Furthermore, we do not disclose any information about flights or passengers coming through our terminal.

Who are your main clients?

The majority of our clients are business people coming to Cyprus for commercial purposes. Many of them have their houses here, but most of them come just for a short stop over. We have a great deal of customers arriving from Lebanon, Asia, Russia and many other counties who are coming here for investment purposes. We also have a unique Heads-of-State Lounge within our terminal, which is used by all Heads-of-State, as well as other dignitaries visiting the Republic. We provide this service on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus for all Heads-of-State who are coming to Cyprus from other countries.

What do you think is the future of executive aircraft in Cyprus?

Cyprus will experience an increase in potential clients and a com­mercial increase. Despite the fact that 2013 was unstable due to the economic situation, we still see a yearly increase of 15-20% in business and flights. Therefore, I see big prospects in Cyprus moving into a role as a promising international business hub. As I have already said, we have seen a growing interest in Cyprus in the last two years from investors, which is very promising for our country and its commercial future.
